Do you have a license and insurance?
License and insurance typically go hand-in-hand because in most states, builders and contractors need to be insured before they are granted a license to operate.
Even if you live in a state where construction companies don’t need license and insurance, don’t risk it. Choose to work with builders who have the right policies so that if anything goes wrong with the project, you won’t be left hanging.

How experienced are you in building homes?
As they say, the experience is the best teacher. That said, you have to make sure that the builder you hire has updated knowledge of your area’s building and construction standards. Just imagine the amount of time and money you’ll waste If you’re not careful.
Do you guarantee your work?
If possible, only work with home builders that offer at least a one year guarantee for the jobs they do. You also have the option of purchasing coverage to protect your financial interests just in case something goes wrong after the project has been completed.
